Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: CBI Accuses RG Kar Ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh of 'Rigging' Staff Selection
During the investigation, the CBI has accused RG Kar ex-principal Sandip Ghosh of manipulating or 'rigging' the staff selection at the Kolkata hospital.

Kolkata: It has almost been a month since the gruesome rape and murder of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's trainee doctor, in the hospital's seminar room. As the CBI investigations in this Kolkata Rape and Murder Case continue, the probe agency has accused Sandip Ghosh of rigging the staff selection at RG Kar and manipulating the process.
CBI Accuses Sandip Ghosh of Rigging Staff Selection at RG Kar
As per media reports, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh had manipulated the selection and recruitment process for the medical housie staff at the Kolkata Hospital.
CBI has accused Ghosh of favouring certain candidates over the others by creating a system of interviews without any official interview panels, for the recruitment of house staff; according to the agency, the process was not transparent and only the final marks scored from the interviews were released before final appointment.
Sandip Ghosh Awarded Contracts at Hospital in Unfair Manner: CBI
The Central Bureau of Investigation's also accused Sandip Ghosh of using unfair means while awarding contracts at the hospital. According to the probe agency, breaching the set rules and procedures, Sandip Ghosh awarded contracts to his associates; for example, the contract for RG Kar's canteen was given to Eshan Cafe, company owned by Nargis, who is the wife of Ghosh's security guard.
CBI's investigation revealed that this contract was bagged by Nargis through unfair means, the bidding procedures were compromised on and the bid amount was handwritten according to the documents; reports say that the non-refundable caution money was also refunded to the company by Sandip Ghosh.
Sandip Ghosh's Lavish Farmhouse Raided by ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at RG Kar Hospital's former principal Sandip Ghosh's sprawling farm house in Kolkata. Apart from raids at Sandip Ghosh’s premises, searches were also conducted at three of his associates in connection with alleged financial irregularities at the RG Kar Medical and Hospital. The law enforcement agency carried out raids at Ghosh’s residence in Beliaghata and at two locations in Howrah and Subhasgram. All the four are already in CBI custody.
Sandip Ghosh, His Aides Arrested in RG Kar Financial Irregularities Case
On Monday, CBI arrested Sandip Ghosh and three others in connection with the alleged financial irregularities at the facility, which is under intense scrutiny over alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor there last month. Officials said the three others who have been arrested are Ghosh's security guard Afsar Ali (44), and hospital vendors Biplav Singha (52) and Suman Hazara (46) who used to supply material to the hospital. Monday was the 15th day of Ghosh's questioning by the agency. From the agency's Salt Lake office, the 53-year-old was taken to the CBI's Nizam Palace office in Kolkata, which houses the agency's anti-corruption wing, and was arrested.
