Kolkata: Junior doctors, who have been protesting against rape and murder of a medical trainee at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital, have called off ir strike partially and will resume emergency services starting Saturday.
However, protest of doctors is far from over. doctors have decided t to provide services to outpatient departments (OPDs) in government hospitals across city, continuing ir dharna to demand justice for victim.

West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front anunced that y will be withdrawing ir sit-in protest outside Kolkata’s Swasthya Bhavan, but plan to march to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in city to escalate ir demands for justice of victim.
In a press statement, protesting doctors declared y h ‘achieved initial success’ concerning ir five demands for justice in case of Abhaya, whose murder ignited protests and outr across country.

"Thanks to our movement, we have mand to halt vicious conspiracy to cover up crime and malicious efforts to derail investigation. Under pressure from our sustained protests, government met most of our second and third demands during a meeting on 16th, which led to removal of Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Deputy Commissioner (rth), and Director of Medical Education (DME) from ir respective posts," statement re.
Torch Rally for Abhaya's Justice
Thousands of people from all sections of society took part in a torch rally from Highland Park in sourn fringes of city on Friday, demanding justice for trainee woman doctor who was raped and murdered in state-run RG Kar hospital last month.

Doctors, members of voluntary bodies and associations of specially-abled people, cartoonists, IT professionals, scientists and professors participated in 42-km foot march that began at 4 pm and culminated near Shyambazar around midnight, covering rrn and sourn parts of city.
rallyists held flaming torches in hand and shouted slogans in solidarity with postgruate trainee, whose body was found with severe injuries in seminar hall of hospital on August 9.

All About Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case
On August 9, body of 31-year-old medic was discovered in a semi-naked state in seminar hall of hospital.
Autopsy reports reveal that victim was sexually assaulted and n murdered. Her neck was broken, and she suffered severe injuries, with multiple body parts, including her private areas, bleeding.

Sanjoy Roy, a civic worker, has been arrested in crime. Roy has confessed to crime but reportedly shows remorse, according to local media.
In response to widespre outr, Calcutta High Court transferred case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 13, amid a nationwide call for justice.
