3 Killed, 2.5 Lakh Affected By West Bengal Floods
At least three people have died, and over 2.5 lakh residents have been affected by severe flooding in southern West Bengal, according to officials on Thursday.
Six districts in the state have been hit by the flood, the official confirmed.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that the flood-like situation in parts of the state was "man-made," blaming the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the unregulated release of water from its Maithon and Panchet dams.

Banerjee, after visiting the flood-stricken areas of Paschim Medinipur and Howrah districts, held a high-level meeting at the state secretariat. She instructed officials to prepare a detailed assessment of the damage and ordered immediate road repairs once the floodwaters recede.
Banerjee also directed authorities to devise strategies to manage the water release from the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) dams.
In a separate incident, the rising waters of the Buriganga canal flooded Banerjee's residence in Kalighat on Thursday afternoon, though she was not at home at the time.
Several areas in Hooghly and Paschim Medinipur have been submerged, and Banerjee is currently visiting the affected regions.
