Kuki Body Justifies Use Of Rockets In Manipur, Says 'Okay With It'

Imphal: Amid rising tensions in Manipur over clashes between ethnic groups Kukis and Meiteis, a Kuki organization member has justified the use of indigenously built rockets and drones by militants in the ongoing conflict. 

Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, a Kuki body member said, “It's true that we both sides – Kukis and Meteis – used rockets and we are okay with it.”

When asked whether these rockets are indigenously made, he said, "Yes, ours (Kukis) rockets are indigenously made… we fought against the Britishers 100 of years ago and made our guns indigenously… but now have scientific knowledge… we can make rockets that can hit targets 4-5 kms away. These are purely indigenous.

However, we don't know from where did the Meiteis got access to rockets, the Kuki Body member said.

On being asked they are attacking their own brother Meiteis, the Kuki member said, “…If they are our brothers, why they kicked us out… trying to bring olive branch in one hand and gun in the other… this is totally unacceptable for us.”

Responding when asked whether foreign powers like China, others are involved, he said that if you talk about the Chinese then it's more about the Meiteis who have better relations with them, they have kept terrorists stationed along the Indo-Burma border.

The group claimed that the weapons are necessary for self-defense as violence continues to escalate in the region.

This admission has raised concerns about the intensifying conflict and the use of advanced weaponry, further complicating the efforts to restore peace in the troubled state. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as fears of a broader escalation grow.
