New Delhi: The missing posters bearing the name of the newly elected Congress MLA and former Olympian Vinesh Phogat that surfaced at Julana in Jind sparked controversy after they went viral on social media.
As per media reports, the posters of her absence from the Assembly session went viral, attracting public opposition.
A poster with Phogat's picture and "Laapata Vidhayak" (Missing MLA) was put up at Julana. The post noted that the Congress MLA was absent during the meeting and urged that anyone who spots her should inform the locals.
However, the sources of the poster is unclear and is yet to be identified. Meanwhile, speculations suggest that it could be the work of residents or political rivals.
Furthermore, according to reports, Phogat's active participation in the Congress party's election campaign could be the reason behind her absence in the Assembly sessions.
Vinesh Phogat, the first-time MLA has been elected from the Julana constituency on a Congress ticket in the recent Haryana Assembly elections. She defeated BJP 's Captain Yogesh Bairagi with a margin of over 6,000 votes, gaining a total of over 65,000 votes.
The Julana assembly segment emerged as a focal point of excitement and competition after Olympic medalist Vinesh Phogat, who recently retired from international wrestling, contested on a Congress ticket and won the seat. Phogat campaigned as ‘Julana ki Bahu’ (daughter-in-law), highlighting her connection through her husband, who hails from Bakhta Khera village in the constituency.
