Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra Reviews Various Aspects of EPFO

New Delhi: Labour Secretary and Chairperson of Executive Committee, Central Board, Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Sumita Dawra, presided over 109th Meeting of Executive Committee this week in national capital. 

It was first meeting of Executive Committee after reconstitution of Committee in September 2024.

Executive Committee is a statutory committee under EPF Act, 1952, with mandate of rendering assistance to Central Board, EPF in discharge of its functions.

Ministry of Labour and Employment said in a statement that several significant matters were before committee for deliberations, recommendations, and approvals.

Audited Annual Accounts of EPFO for years 2021-22 and 2022-23 were placed before Committee for consideration of a recommendation to Board, thus ensuring that backlog of annual accounts was cleared. Committee gave directions that audited accounts for year 2023-24 should be prepared and presented on time.

In ar significant decision, Executive Committee also considered draft New Compassionate Appointment Policy, 2024, to bring relief to dependents and wards of many employees of EPFO, who h unfortunately died before superannuation, many of which h occurred during COVID-19 pandemic period.

It was furr decided that occasion of 72nd Foundation Day of EPFO on vember 15, 2024 will be used as an opportunity to push reform nda ahe through employees of EPFO who work at different levels across country.

Executive Committee decided to meet monthly for next few months to regularly monitor and review reform nda, including modernization project and or important initiatives that are underway at present.
