LAC faceoff: Ahead of 8th round of talks, India considers 'confidential' proposal by China
As the stage is set for the 8th round of talks between India and China to resolve the LAC faceoff, India is considering China's proposal to reduce tensions.

As st is set for eighth round of talks between India and China to resolve border row along LAC, India is considering a proposal given by China to reduce tensions. details of proposal are being kept highly confidential as sources in Defence Ministry indicated. seventh round of military and diplomatic talks remained inconclusive and status quo is maintained along LAC as decided by both countries after sixth round of dialogue that concluded on September 21.

India firm on complete disengment
officials suggested that it cant be revealed what China has proposed and authorities are yet to take a final call on proposal but it is being discussed on military and diplomatic level. India has been firm on complete disengment and de-escalation by China on all stand-off points but consensus was reached. last military-level talks were held on October 12.
meeting went on for more than 11 hours and China was told to take back all deployments and maintain status quo ante of April-May. delocks could t be resolved in meeting. Soon after delegation returned, China sent a proposal which is being dealt with in top hierarchy. India intends to resolve matter peacefully and China also agreed to co-operate for same as put forth in joint statement issued after talks.

LAC standoff
India and China are in a standoff at Lakh with around 50,000 soldiers on both sides along LAC. India and China w look set to maintain forward deployment at border through Lakh’s harsh wear conditions. Indian Army is well equipped with winter clothing, shelters and medical facilities.

date for next round of talks is yet to be finalised but nda for India remains to push China for complete disengment of troops from all friction points. However, Indian Army is strong on strategically important hold points in region, yet it believes in peaceful resolution of tension through dialogue. External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar h said last week that India and China are engd in talks to resolve border standoff, ding that what is going on is confidential. Moreover, he said that if peace and tranquility will t be maintained, relation between both countries will be deeply disturbed.
