Lakh Buddhist Association on Thursday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recommending him to confer highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, to 14th Dalai Lama. Lakh Buddhist Association said that revered monk is "truest ambassor of peace and harmony" and has done an ermous amount of interfaith network throughout world for fostering tolerance, altruism, love, compassion and religious harmony.
"As a holy goodwill ambassor of India, Dalai Lama has promoted India s a living example of world’s greatest civilizations that has Ahimsa (n-violence) and Karuna (compassion) as guiding principles. His Holiness has immense contributions in creating goodwill for India in last six deces and citizens of country also ackwledge this and maintain high regards to Dalai Lama. He, refore, truly deserves to be conferred Bharat Ratna," letter to PM Modi re.

offer to award Bharat Ratna to Dalai Lama has been considered at highest levels of government. A section within Indian ministration is in favour of considering move, particularly in view of China’s ongoing aggression along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Lakh. However, such a move by India would invite risk and trigger a strong response from China.

Former foreign secretary Nirupama Rao too h posted just days after clash between Indian Army personnel and Chinese troops in Galwan Valley that he should be given award.
