Erstwhile 'J&K police' in Ladakh to now be known as 'LADAKH POLICE' in Union Territory
Formerly known as J&K police, police force in the UT of Ladakh will be henceforth called LADAKH POLICE. An order regarding the change was issued on Saturday.

In a fresh development, police ministration of Union Territory of Lakh will longer be referred to as ‘Jammu and Kashmir Police’ as newly formed UT has been assigned its own police force insignias and menclature. An order regarding change in menclature was issued by Inspector General of Police, Lakh, S.S. Khandare, on Saturday.

“Wherever organisational name ‘J&K Police’’ is written on any signboards, police vehicles, letterhes, office stationaries, seals and or official items of UT Police should be replaced by word “LAKH POLICE’’ in capital letters henceforth’’, order re.

Abrogation of Article 370
On August 5, 2019, central government heed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi h repealed Article 370 and Article 35A that granted special powers to region and bifurcated former state into two Union Territories (UTs) -- Jammu and Kashmir with legislature and Lakh without one. new UTs came into existence on October 31.

Meanwhile, four more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Lakh even as first COVID-19 testing laboratory was inaugurated by parliamentarian Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Monday, officials said. state-of--art bio-safety level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory was set up at Chushot Yokma and is first molecular laboratory in region, which will be used for testing HIV, Tuberculosis, Swine flu, and Hepatitis-B after COVID-19 pandemic is over, y said.

With dition of four patients, who are from Kargil district, total number of COVID-19 cases in union territory has reached 52, officials said. However, 43 of patients have alrey recovered and discharged from hospital, while condition of all remaining 10 active patients -- nine in Kargil and one in Leh -- is stated to be stable, y said.
