Ladakh Scouts expedition scales Mount Mamostong Kangri in 18 days
A battalion of the Ladakh Scouts regiment of the Indian Army has completed the mountaineering expedition to the peak of Mountain Mamostong Kangri within 18 days

A battalion of Lakh Scouts regiment of Indian Army has completed mountaineering expedition to peak of Mountain Mamostong Kangri within 18 days.
Mount Mamostong Kangri scaled in 18 days
peak is located in Rimo Muztagh which is a subrange of Karakoram Ranges. Located at an altitude of 7,516m, Momostong Kangri is highest peak in remote Rimo Muztagh, a subrange of Karakoram ranges. Lieutenant General YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding Fire & Fury Corps flagged off expedition from Leh.

team undertook arduous physical training
expedition team comprising of 22 members included two Officers, one JCO and 19 Or Ranks was being led by Major Lotos Spalges of ‘Always First’ Battalion, Lakh Scouts Regiment. team composed of experienced. Before taking expedition, team underwent three weeks of arduous physical and technical training under guidance of able instructors.

Similar activities carried out by Indian Army

This was done to commemorate 20th anniversary of Kargil war and to mark ‘55th AMC Biennial Conference’ of Army. expedition was carried out in an effort to hour heroes of Indian Army who h lost ir lives trying to fight for country. expedition was conducted by eight people of Army who scaled eight of world's highest passes and rode over 1500 km in Lakh.
In April this year, a team of 10 runners from Army Ordnance Corps undertook an Ultra Marathon run from Jabalpur to Secunderab covering a distance of 777 Kms. Aim of this Ultra Marathon run was to foster spirit of venture and fitness in Indian Army.
