Mumbai: India marked the end of Ganesh Chaturthi on Tuesday, September 17, with the joyous immersion of Lord Ganesh's idols, concluding 10 days of vibrant festivities.
The final day, known as Visarjan or Anant Chaturdashi, signifies the departure of Ganpati Bappa and the symbolic return to his celestial abode.
Across the country, grand celebrations unfolded, with social media filled with videos showcasing flower showers, music, and dancing, as people embraced the festive spirit.
A viral clip from Mumbai's iconic Lalbaugcha Raja pandal captured large crowds of devotees gathering to pay their respects and participate in the celebration. Known as the 'King of Lalbaug,' this revered idol is believed to embody Lord Ganpati's divine blessings, bringing prosperity and dispelling evil.
The idol of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh- was immersed into the Arabian Sea off the Girgaon beach in south Mumbai at around 10:30 am. Thousands of devotees made a beeline to catch the last glimpse of the deity.
Meanwhile, in the video shared by PTI, devotees are seen chanting 'Morya Re' as the Lalbaugcha Raja idol is carried in a grand procession for the Visarjan.
This comes as over 37,000 idols of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Gauri were immersed in water bodies across Mumbai by Wednesday morning as devotees bade farewell after the festival, PTI reported.
The immersion processions, which began on Tuesday morning on the last day of the Ganesh festival, continued smoothly throughout the night, with devotees thronging the city's beaches, lakes and other artificial ponds for immersion of the idols.
