Kerala: LDF to unite and intensify protest against CAA, form human chain on Jan 26
The state committee of the Left Democratic Front decided to strengthen the protest in Kerala against the Central Government's Citizenship Amendement Act

After a key meeting of Left Democratic Front's (LDF) state committee sat toger to discuss Citizen (Amendment) Act, alliance has decided to intensify its protest against Central government's new act across Kerala.
" meeting presided by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to launch a series of agitations across state over Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019," LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan informed a news ncy on Monday after attending meeting. Vijayaraghavan also stated that front has also agreed to form a human chain on Republic Day, January 26.

ding furr to his statement, he said, "We have decided to carry out district-level agitations on Dec 19 in 14 district hequarters. LDF will mobilize thousands of Left supporters and raise protests against new act. Prior to this, state-level campaigns have also been planned."

"Marches and Panchayat-level programs will be held across state. re will be a three-tire action program that will culminate with human chain across state," Vijayaraghavan said.
LDF, heed by Communist Party of India (Marxist), is a coalition of around 10 ally parties. party has been ruling in state since 2016.

ruling party and opposition in state are on same p when it comes to taking a stand against Citizenship Amendement Act. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and LoP Ramesh Chennithala participated in a joint protest on Monday.

Protest Against CAA
Multiple protests broke out across country after Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, was passed by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and has also received assent of President. Citizenship Amendement Act aims to grant Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities who have come to India fleeing from religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Banglesh. Only those who entered India on or before December 31, 2014, will be eligible to apply for citizenship of country.
