Gyanvapi mosque: Varanasi court to decide on making ASI report public on Jan 24

A Varanasi court has fixed the January 24 date to decide whether the copies of the sealed ASI report should be provided to both the parties.

Varanasi: A decision on wher sealed report of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), on Gyanvapi mosque complex should be me public, will be announced on January 24. A Varanasi court on Saturday fixed January 24 date to decide wher copies of sealed ASI report should be provided to both parties.

According to news agency PTI, District Judge AK Vishvesh fixed date to decide on issues on Saturday.

Man Mohan Yav, counsel for Hindu side, said that Hindu and Muslim sides and Archeological Survey of India (ASI) were present in court. court said it will decide issue after hearing in matter before Civil Judge of senior division fast track court takes place.

fast track court is scheduled to take up matter on January 19.

Earlier, Archaeological Survey of India presented a survey report on Gyanvapi mosque complex to district court of Varanasi in a sealed cover. During submission of report, four high-ranking ASI officials were in attendance in court.

ASI received several extensions to finalize survey.

ASI conducted a scientific survey of Gyanvapi complex, situated jacent to Kashi Vishwanath temple. objective was to ascertain wher mosque was built atop remains of a pre-existing Hindu temple structure. This survey was initiated in response to district court's directive on July 21, instructing an examination beneath mosque's domes, cellars, and western wall.
