LIVE: Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Stopped at Guwahati Border, Congress Workers Break Barriers

Congress' yatra returned to Assam for its last leg and was supposed to travel through the outskirts of the state's largest city Guwahati.

Assam: A scuffle broke out between Congress workers and Police after party workers tried to break barriers put by Assam Police on Tuesday, January 23. Police personnel tried to prevent Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from entering into Guwahati city. 

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma h said earlier that Yatra would t be allowed to enter city in order to avoid traffic jams. As police personnel at border tried to stop Congress yatra, workers broke barrices and raised slogans.

“We have broken barrices but will t break law,” said Congress leer Rahul Gandhi after Congress workers broke police barriers. "We have won as we have broken barrices," said AICC in-charge for Assam Jitendra Singh. 

Yatra, which entered Meghalaya on Monday, returned to Assam for its last leg and will travel through outskirts of state's largest city Guwahati. Yatra would be in Assam till Thursday.
