Locust Attack: Swarming insects reach Andhra Pradesh's Anantapuram district
Swarms of locusts hit Andhra Pradesh's Dasappa Road, Rayadurga in Anantapuram district, destroying planted crops by eating all the leaves and flowers.

After causing havoc in Rajasthan and Mhya Presh, menace of migratory locusts hit Andhra Presh on Thursday, May 28. Swarms of locusts hit Dasappa Ro, Rayurga in Anantapuram district, destroying planted crops in farmlands.
"This plant was good when I came to my shop in morning. But w while returning home, I saw that plant is leafless. And plant next to it is full of locusts. I h seen locusts on TV. But y came to Rayurga for first time," Ramesh, a local shopkeeper, told a news ncy.

Locust, kwn as 'Tiddi Dal' in rth India, is a of grasshoppers that usually move in large numbers and devastate crops.

Earlier this year, several parts of Rajasthan h reported locust attacks. Locust Warning Organisation (LWO) of Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare h warned of ar attack in May-June this year.
Kwn to have travelled from gulf, huge swarms of locusts transit from Pakistan to India. first locust attack of this year was reported from Ganganagar, a district in rth Rajasthan bordering Pakistan on May 11.

Union Agriculture Ministry on Thursday said that 15 sprayers will be procured from UK in a fortnight and plans are afoot to deploy drones and helicopters for aerial spray of pesticides. Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that control measures are in full swing and in close coordination with state agriculture departments, local ministration and Border Security Force (BSF).

While Uttar Presh government swung into action, spraying crops with various chemicals and insecticide in Jhansi and Sonbhra districts, farmers in Uttar Presh have resorted to playing DJs and loud music to deal with locusts and minimize potential dam.
