Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviewed work on Pune Metro Rail project here on Friday, a district official said.

Pawar, who is also district's guardian minister, visited office of Metro Rail authorities in Pimpri Chinchwad area and took stock of work on PCMC-Swargate corridor, official said.

As part of a trial run, deputy chief minister also travelled in metro rail from Sant Tukaram station to Pimpri station, he said.

Pawar was apprised about progress of project by Dr Brajesh Dixit, managing director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro), official said.

Maha Metro is developing two metro lines in Pune. 16 km-long PCMC-Swargate corridor will have 14 metro stations.

Meanwhile, guardian minister, who is touring district, will also take stock of COVID-19 situation and chair a meeting with MLAs and MPs, it was stated.
