Maharashtra: Centre-appointed high level committee to assess Kharif crop damages

A high-level central team began a three-day tour to assess damd Kharif crops caused by excessive rains in Marathwa region of Maharashtra state. team of experts includes ditional Secretary, National Disaster Manment Authority, V Triumphal, and Director, Hyderab Agriculture Welfare Department K Maharan. officers were briefed about crop dams by Aurangab Divisional Commissioner Sunil Kendrekar.

Divisional Commissioner submitted a proposal of Rs 3,350.89 crore for compensation to affected farmers for in Marathwa. team along with Aurangab District Collector Uday Chaudhari visited 16 affected vills in district. On Saturday, National Disaster Manment Authority and rest of team will visit 13 vills in Beed district while officers will meet farmers and inspect dams in eight vills in Jalna district on last day, sources told.
During its visit, team would interact with affected farmers to assess actual dams and will submit ir report to Central government. Maharashtra Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshyari h alrey anunced a pack of over Rs 800 crore as first instalment for affected farmers. state ministration has sanctioned Rs 819.59 crore relief for Marathwa farmers who suffered losses due to unseasonal showers, an official said on Friday.

Unseasonal showers and delayed retreat of monsoon has affected farmers in parts of state, especially in Aurangab, Amravati and Nashik divisions. Maharashtra Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshyari on vember 16 took stock of dam caused to crops due to unseasonal rains in state in months of October and vember. Goverr directed ministration to immediately disburse relief.

Relief for farmers

"Maharashtra state ministration sanctioned Rs 819.59 crore as aid for post-monsoon showers that hit farmers in Marathwa," deputy divisional commissioner Parag Soman said. drought-prone region didn't receive equate rainfall during monsoon, but farmers suffered immensely when rey crops were damd due to unseasonal showers that later hit state, a state official said. "This dam was surveyed by government ncies and a demand of Rs 2,909.36 crore was earlier presented to state ministration," he ded. As per government resolution passed on vember 18, Beed will receive Rs 144.18 crore, highest share from pack.
