Maharashtra Polls: Amit Shah visits Mahalaxmi temple in Kolhapur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is campaigning for his party in Maharashtra for the upcoming Assembly elections, visited Shri Ambabai Mahalaxmi Temple in Kolhapur on Sunday and offered prayers. Shah also addressed a rally in the city where he spoke about the abrogation of Article 370 and fielded for Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis. After his rally in Kolhapur, Shah also held a roadshow in Shirur, Pune.

"Man with 56-inch chest scrapped it in one go," says Amit Shah

While addressing the rally at Tapovan School ground in Kolhapur, the Home Minister said, "Several governments came and went, several prime ministers came and went, no one had the courage to abrogate Article 370. But, the man with the 56-inch chest scrapped it in one go." He held the opposition Congress responsible for the imposition of Article 370 and also listed various other bold decisions taken by the Modi-led government, including banning the practice of instant triple talaq and conducting a surgical strike and an airstrike after the Uri and Pulwama terror attacks respectively. Later on Sunday, Shah also addressed a gathering in Karad, Satara. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also addressed a rally in Maharashtra's Jalgaon, where he challenged the Opposition parties in the state to declare that they will restore Article 370, abrogated by the Centre on August 5. He further dared the Congress-led Opposition to stop shedding "crocodile tears" if they cannot promise the restoration of Article 370 in their manifesto.

BJP-Sena seat-sharing formula in Maharashtra

The Bharatiya Janata Party will contest the upcoming Maharashtra elections in alliance with Shiv Sena. The BJP will contest for 164 seats across the states whereas the Shiv Sena will contest for 124 seats. The Maharashtra state elections are scheduled to be held on October 21 and the results will be announced on October 24.
