Main Accused In Delhi Police Constable Drag-Death Case Nabbed

New Delhi: main accused in brutal killing of a Delhi Police constable, who was allegedly mowed down by a car and dragged for 10 metres in Nangloi area, was on Monday arrested, officials said.

Meanwhile, a court here today sent or accused in matter, Rajnish alias Situ, to three-day police custody.

In early hours of Sunday, constable Sandeep Malik (30), posted at Nangloi Police station, was run over by a Maruti WagonR car near Veena Enclave in Nangloi during his duty hours in plain clos.

police said Dharmender Gulia alias Bhandre was driving car and Rajnish sitting next to him when y allegedly hit motorcycle-borne constable.

According to FIR, Sandeep had rebuked Dharmender and Rajinsh for drinking on road after which duo got angry and allegedly killed him by mowing him down with ir car.

After incident, Dharmender ran away leaving car on spot.

Rajnish, who was sitting next to driver seat, was arrested on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner (outer) Jimmy Chiram said Dharmender (39) was arrested from Mukarba Chowk while he was coming back to Delhi from Himachal Pradesh on Monday evening. He is furr interrogated.

While, Dharmender does job in an e-commerce company, Rajnish runs a grocery shop, DCP said, adding that both accused are residents of Veena Enclave.

officer furr said during course of investigation, evidence regarding involvement of liquor mafia in incident has been found.

police have registered an FIR under section of murder, officials said.
