Major Collision In Mandya: 22 Injured As Mini Truck Slams Into Car

Mandya: In a tragic road accident, 22 people were injured, including two seriously, after a mini truck collided with a car in Karnataka's Mandya on Thursday. 

According to the police, the accident happened between KM Doddi and Maddur. 

“The mini truck was overloaded with people and collided with a car in which four people were travelling,” police said.

"All of them sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment. Only two among the 22 have sustained serious injuries while rest of them have got minor injuries," a senior police officer said.

A case has been registered in connection with the accident and further investigation is underway, he said. 

Meanwhile, four people from a family, including an 80-year-old woman, were killed and one was seriously injured after their car crashed into a tree on National Highway 75 in Kudur hobli, Ramanagara district, on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4.30 pm when the family of four, who were residents of Bagalagunte in northern Bengaluru and natives of Kunigal, were returning from a funeral in Magadi, according to the Kudur police. They crashed into a peepal tree at a curve on the road near an oil factory at Bhadrapura Gate. Four people died on the spot. Police suspect that speeding would have been the primary reason behind the crash.
