Greater Noida: In a major operation on October 25, a clandestine methamphetamine lab was busted in Greater Noida, leading to the seizure of 95 kilograms of drugs and the arrest of four individuals, including a Tihar Jail warden, a Delhi businessman, and a Mumbai-based chemist.

Following intelligence regarding a hidden laboratory producing synthetic drugs for domestic and international markets, a joint team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police’s Special Cell conducted the raid. The operation uncovered approximately 95 kilograms of methamphetamine in both solid and liquid forms, along with precursor chemicals and sophisticated manufacturing equipment.

The arrested businessman from Delhi, previously detained by the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in a narcotics case, allegedly partnered with a Tihar Jail warden who facilitated access to the chemicals and equipment necessary for drug production. To oversee the manufacturing process, the suspects enlisted a chemist from Mumbai, while a cartel member based in Delhi conducted quality checks.

On October 27, the suspects were presented before a magistrate, who remanded them to three days in police custody. In a follow-up operation, an associate of the businessman was apprehended from Rajouri Garden. Authorities are now tracing financial records and assets linked to the operation, which the NCB says is part of a rising trend of setting up industrial-area labs to evade law enforcement.

Earlier in October, two significant raids conducted by Delhi Police Special Cell uncovered international drug syndicates operating in the capital, seizing drugs worth an estimated Rs 7,600 crore. A record-breaking raid in Mahipalpur yielded 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of marijuana from Thailand, valued at approximately Rs 5,600 crore. The syndicate reportedly transported the drugs from Thailand to India through Uttar Pradesh.

In West Delhi's Ramesh Nagar, a separate operation uncovered 204 kilograms of high-quality cocaine concealed in snack packets, with an estimated value of Rs 2,000 crore. This consignment was allegedly destined for distribution in Mumbai and other states, sourced through encrypted communication channels and foreign suppliers from the UK and the Middle East.
