Mamata Banerjee marches 10km on International Day of Climate Action

Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal on Thursday took part in a 10 kilometers long march in Darjeeling hills to create awareness on conservation of environment. Banerjee is kwn to be a fitness freak. She marched entire 10 km stretch starting from Kurseong to Mahani area on occasion of International Day of Climate Action. She also interacted with locals during march speaking on issues related to environment conservation and keeping greenery intact.

'Save Green, Stay Clean'
Earlier in day, she also tweeted about need for environmental conservation. In her tweet, she urged people to make a pledge to make every effort to save planet through environment conservation.

4000 events across 175 countries
On eve of International Day of Climate Action, as many as 4000 events were reportedly conducted in 175 countries across world with hundreds of thousands of people across globe gared to call for an end to global warming.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also brought attention of masses on issue of global warming, climate change and plastic pollution on several international as well as domestic forums. On his birthday on September 17, PM Modi during his dress on Sardar Sarovar Dam h pledged to phase out use of single-use plastic by 2022 in a bid to move towards a cleaner environment and better climate. reafter, in 74th session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), PM Modi dressed issues of climate change and protecting environment. He specifically brought world's attention to menace of plastic pollution and reiterated that India vows to ban use of single-use plastic in a bid to ericate plastic pollution to move towards a cleaner environment.
