Mamata Banerjee wishes Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina on her birthday
The CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter, on Saturday, to wish Bangladesh PM, Sheikh Hasina & hoped for strong relations between two countries.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter, on Saturday, to wish the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. She, in her message, hoped that the relationship between the two countries gets strengthened.
PM Hasina in New York
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is celebrating her 72nd birthday on Saturday. This is happening while she is in New York for an eight-day official tour at the United Nations General Assembly. The eldest daughter of the father of Bengali Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, Sheikh Hasina is the current Awami League supremo. Married to the nuclear scientist MA Wazed Miah in 1968, she is the longest-serving prime minister of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina’s life before politics
Sheikh Hasina, with her husband, M. A. Wazed Miah lived in West Germany during her early years because her husband worked there as a nuclear physicist. Later in 1975, she took asylum in Delhi, India while her son studied in various boarding schools of India. She got involved in active politics only in 1981 when she was made the leader of the Awami League Party in Bangladesh. During her time in India, she made various friends, which includes the wife of the former president of India Pranab Mukherjee, Subhra Mukherjee.

PM Modi and PM Hasina meeting
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina met Indian PM Narendra Modi on the sidelines of UNGA at New York. This meeting concluded PM Modi’s last of the engagements after a week-long visit to New York. Both leaders had various bilateral discussions on local and global issues during the meeting. The MEA after their meeting reiterated that the state of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two states are in excellent shape. They promised to maintain the momentum to take the India-Bangladesh relationship to new heights. The PMs also emphasized on their stand of having a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and violent extremism.
