Chennai: Days after issuing a bomb threat to Chennai-Mumbai Indigo flight, a 27-year-old man was arrested, police said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as V Prasanna, hails from Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district. The bomb threat later turned out to be a hoax. Prasanna was nabbed by team of officials from the Cyber Crime Police Station of Central Crime Branch, an official release said.
The 27-year-old accused had made the hoax threat to the Customer Service Centre of the airline in the city via a message on June 18, claiming a bomb had been placed in the Mumbai-bound flight. A complaint was later registered with the cyber crime wing. The man has been remanded to judicial custody.
More details are awaited.
Despite the bomb threat, the flight had landed safely at the Mumbai airport at 10.30 pm the same day.
"IndiGo flight 6E 5149, operating from Chennai to Mumbai, had received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay," the airline had said in a statement.
All passengers had safely disembarked the aircraft, IndiGo had said.
