Banda: A tragic incident unfolded in the Baragaon village of Bisanda area when a 40-year-old man, Anil Patel, lost his life after slipping into a well. In a heroic but ill-fated attempt to save him, two others—Sandeep Verma (19) and Bala Verma (21)—also met the same fate. Police suspect that a poisonous gas inside the well may have led to their deaths.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shivraj, "The incident occurred when Anil Patel slipped into a well in his field and became unconscious." Alarmed by the situation, Sandeep and Bala rushed to the scene in an effort to rescue Patel, but they too fell unconscious soon after entering the well.

"Villagers immediately informed the police and administrative officials," ASP Shivraj said. The trio was quickly retrieved from the well and rushed to the Medical College of Banda for treatment. However, upon arrival, doctors declared all three men dead.

"Prima facie it appears that there was poisonous gas in the muddy well which led to their deaths," the ASP noted. Authorities are awaiting the results of post-mortem examinations to confirm the exact cause of death.

The tragic deaths have left the local community in shock, with authorities urging residents to exercise caution around wells, particularly those that may harbor harmful gases. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
