Mumbai: A man hailing from Satara district has registered Aadhaar card numbers of 30 individuals to submit 30 separate applications to obtain benefits under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.

He has managed to channel these benefits into a single cooperative bank account under the names of 26 of the applicants so far, police said.

Used Same Woman’s Photograph For 27 Persons

According to a complaint lodged with the Panvel tehsil office, the individual used a single woman's photograph in various outfits to impersonate her as 27 different people in order to obtain benefits.

The matter came to light when after a resident in Khargar, found that her application was submitted and approved with a mobile used by someone else.

On August 28, she enlisted the help of a former corporator of Panvel City Municipal Corporation to apply for the scheme. The corporator discovered that 30 beneficiaries were registered under the same mobile number. A complaint has been lodged with the Panvel tehsil office requesting appropriate action, but no FIR has been filed as of yet.
