Man Threatens NRI Doctor To Leak Private Photos, Demanded Extortion of Rs 2 Crore, Nabbed In Chennai

Surat: A 29-year-old engineer from Chennai has been arrested for allegedly extorting nearly Rs 2 crore from a NRI Doctor hailing from Surat, police said. 

The accused has been identified as Guruprasad Naidu. 

According to police, the accused threatened the 27-year-old woman doctor that he will make her nude pictures viral.

In this regard, police conducted a raid at a hotel in Chennai, apprehending the suspect. Naidu, who completed his BTech, had also pursued an MBA in Switzerland.

According to the police, the accused used to impress women by stating that he came from a powerful political family in Andhra Pradesh and owned an upscale home in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

Addicted to Gambling and Pornography

"Naidu had established contact with the woman in 2019 on social media. He managed to get her nude pictures and kept threatening her to extort money over the past five years. The victim continued to give him money as she feared that he would make her photos viral. Police found that Naidu was addicted to gambling and pornography.  As many South Indian superstars lived in Jubilee Hills, he had rented a house there and mentioned that address in his passport. We are investigating if he had deceived other women,'' ACP (Cybercrime), Surat Police, Sweta Daniels said. 

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, the official said.
