Two schoolgirls from Mangalore recreated the 'Moonwalk' video on Friday on the pothole-filled roads in the city to create awareness for the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and to urge the civic body to repair the roads that were damaged during heavy rains this year. A Class 6 girl, Adlin D'Silva, dressed up as an astronaut and walked on the crater-sized potholes near the vegetable market, and created a video out of it. Another girl, a lower kindergarten student, Nia C Govind, also created a similar video dressed as an astronaut walking on the pothole-ridden roads in the city and shared it on YouTube. The video was titled 'Mangaluru Roadnaut'. According to reports, the two girls were inspired by a similar act by street artist and activist Baadal Nanjundaswamy in Bengaluru recently.

After the two girls shared the video, the Mangalore Civic Corporation's (MCC)  co-founder Arjun Mascarenhas said that the video was posted on social media to highlight the plight of roads in the city and the apathy of civic authorities in fixing the problem. After the video went viral, the civic body immediately took steps to repair the damage.
