On occasion of 390th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji,  unclean statue of Shivaji Maharaj when goverr Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and mayor Kishori Pednekar visited Mumbai's Shivaji Park to pay tribute to Maratha emperor has sparked an anger among locals.

Mahar Joshi holds BMC responsible

Reacting on issue, Senior Shiv Sena leer Mahar Joshi has said that BMC is responsible for cleanliness of statue. Each year floral tributes are offered by leers and dignitaries to statue on anniversary, however, this time condition of  status was in question as statue seemed to look dirty, its polishing fing off, furrmore, bird droppings on statue were also t cleaned for occasion. entire situation offended locals present at that time, compelling Joshi to assert that BMC should form a committee if required to undertake responsibility for cleanliness of statues of great leers.

"BMC is responsible for cleanliness of status. mayor is present on occasion and she will ensure cleanliness is maintained next time," Joshi said.

"If required, a committee should be formed in order to avoid such embarrassing situations in future," he ded.

Mahar Joshi and Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshiyari paid tributes to Shivaji Maharaj stating that revered Maratha leer has been an inspiration to many and people should follow his footsteps to be on path of achieving greatness.

"It is important to celebrate such occasions irrespective of date or 'tithi'. It will be interesting to see how cleanliness of such statues is kept in coming times as it is a mark of disrespect to our tributes and to statue of great leers," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray among ors also paid tribute to Maratha Emperor on anniversary.
