Maoist Killed in Encounter With Security Forces in Odisha's Kandhamal District

Bhubaneswar: In Kandhamal district of Odisha 's Budanai reserve forest, a Maoist was killed Friday after a gunfight with security forces, police said.

An encounter with SOG Teams in Kandhamal resulted in death of one Maoist. An AK-47 rifle was confiscated. ditional operations in region have been stepped up. "Kandhmal Police, Intelligence Directorate, and Operational Hequarters are congratulated by DGP," Odisha Police wrote on X.

During operation, an exchange of fire between SOG and Naxals erupted this morning at around 9 am on Friday.

According to Odisha Police press release, “Exchange of Fire in Kandhmal District today on dated 25.10.2024 leing to Neutralisation of one Maoist Cre In course of operation, re was an exchange of Fire between SOG and Naxals today at around 9 am.”

Following encounter by elite Special Operation Group, security personnel searched area and recovered body of a Maoist cre along with one AK-47 rifle, police said. 

Preliminary enquiry reveals deceased a senior ranked cre of CPI(M) belonging to Kandhmal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh Division (KKBN division) of Maoists operating in Kandhmal district," police said.
