Indian boxer Mary Kom and shuttlers PV Sindhu on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to empower women in country. Mary Kom took to Twitter and extolled initiative stating that it motivates m to work harder.

On Friday, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju said that PM Modi is appealing to everyone to celebrate 'Bharat Ki Laxmi' for extraordinary success of women of India.

Ackwledging Rijiju's tweet, 24-year-old ace shuttler Sindhu also thanked Modi for coming up with this initiative to hor and empower women in country.

'India's Nari Shakti epitomises talent and tenacity'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared video and said that India’s 'nari shakti' epitomises talent, tenacity, determination and dedication. He also said that Indian ethos has always taught people to strive for women empowerment. 

This is t first time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched such a campaign supporting women empowerment. In 2015, PM launched 'Selfie with Daughter' where he urged parents to share pictures with ir daughters on social media. He said that campaign was inspired by a Haryana sarpanch's initiative, which caught his eye. Prime Minister said that concept will boost Centre's 'Beti Bachao' campaign.
