Massive Fire Breaks Out At Warehouse In UP's Kanpur City, Rescue Underway

Kanpur: A massive fire broke out in a hosiery warehouse in the basement of a building on Rizvi Road under the jurisdiction of Beconganj police station in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur city. The incident occurred on Saturday night, when suddenly the fire spread throughout the basement leading to a panic-like situation. 

On information, the local police along with the fire department team and fire tenders rushed to the spot and efforts were initiated to douse the fire. 

As per a senior police official, the incident was reported at around 9.45 pm on Saturday, following which the rescue teams reached the spot. Efforts were being made to control the massive fire, however, due to extreme darkness and the plumes of smoke, the rescue operation is being affected. 

At least 8 fire engines have been deployed in the rescue operation at the site. So far no casualty or injury has been reported. However, the exact information regarding any injury or casualty will only be ascertained once the fire is brought under control. 

The exact cause of the fire is not known yet. The police are probing the incident to ascertain the cause behind the massive fire.
