Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati slammed the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government over a police encounter on an alleged illegal sand mining case. The alleged encounter took place in Patna killing a youth named Pushpendra Yadav. Taking to Twitter, the BSP opined of "Jungleraj" prevailing in UP with no law and order situation.
“Crimes are openly carried out in the state’s capital Lucknow, then it can be considered that other cities are also suffering the same fate. People are enraged over the fake encounter and are raising their voices. It is clear that there is no law and order, but ‘Jungleraj’ prevails in Uttar Pradesh.”, tweeted Mayawati.

The Encounter Story
Uttar Pradesh police claim Yadav was running an illegal sand mining business. On Sunday, October 6, he reportedly fired at the police inspector who had seized his truck used in the sand mining business a few days ago. He escaped after firing at the police, but the latter intercepted him at a crossing and shot him down when he refused to surrender and tried to fire again. The family of the deceased has alleged that it was not an encounter but murder by the police as they were demanding bribe from Yadav which he refused to pay and instead threatened to expose them.

The demand for a murder case on SHO
Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has also tried to gain political mileage out of the situation by visiting the family of the deceased and alleged that the police killed a youth in Jhansi in a staged gunfight. The SP president demanded a murder charge be levelled against the Station House Officer (SHO) involved in the case and a probe into the incident by a sitting high court judge. He appended that no one believes in the version asserted by the police and declared the encounter a murder.
