Mehbooba Mufti's daughter moves SC to challenge ex-CM's detention under PSA since Feb 5
A dossier was prepared to justify the charge against the former Mufti, which accused her of promoting separatism corroborated by ‘several confidential reports’

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija, moved Supreme Court on February 26 challenging her mor's detention under Public Safety Act (PSA) since February 5. former BJP ally was detained without a trial for six months after abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.
A detailed dossier was prepared to justify charge against former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Objecting "ground" of detention, Iltija in her petition, lambasted "personal remarks in b taste" mentioned in dossier. Mehbooba Mufti's dossier was compared to 'Kota Rani' and referred to as 'Ddy's girl' in dossier prepared by Jammu and Kashmir ministration. Kota Rani was last ruler Hindu Lohara dynasty in Kashmir. She was n deposed by Shah Mir, who became first Muslim ruler of Kashmir. Queen of Kashmir, as per dossier, "rose to power by virtue of undertaking intrigues ranging from poisoning of her opponents to ponyardings."

On February 9, opposing charge against Mehbooba Mufti, her daughter Itlija elaborated on how her mor was asked to sign a document that said that she will make statements against abrogation of Article 370. She mentioned that government objected to "green colour" of PDP flag, that government said that it "reflects rical origin."

PSA served to Mehbooba Mufti furr “accused her of promoting separatism corroborated by ‘several confidential reports’ filed by ncies.” In response to this Ilitja wrote, “This highlights BJPs disregard for rule of law & intentionally defaming political rivals. Why t place such evidence in public domain? Are we a Khap Panchayat w?”

Claiming that this charge compares Mehbooba Mufti “to a medieval historical figure who usurped power by poisoning her opponents,” Ilitija said, “Again since Mufti's ‘alleged character’ didn’t change why did BJP compromise on ir ideology? Why did y forego core issues like maintaining status quo on Article 370 in PDP BJPs nda of an alliance? Selective amnesia?”

Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were among plenty of mainstream Kashmiri leers charged under PSA on night of February 6. As per rules, preventive detention can be extended beyond six months only if an visory board, constituted two weeks before completion of 180-day period, recommends for that.

However, such board was constituted and Jammu and Kashmir ministration was left with two choices -- eir to release m or slap PSA. Authorities cited proceedings of internal party meetings and social media influence of NC leer and former chief minister Omar Abdullah and "pro-separatist" stand of Mehbooba Mufti for booking m under stringent PSA.
