Migrants no longer need to obtain individual medical certificates for travel: Maha govt

The Maharashtra government revised the lockdown guidelines eliminating the need for migrants to obtain an individual medical certificate before travelling.

On Thursday, Maharashtra government revised lockdown guidelines for containment of COVID-19 in state. It stated that migrants desirous of travelling to home state should be screened at time of commencing journey by using a digital rmometer and symptomatic examination. Moreover, this testing will be done free of cost by medical officer of government, municipal corporation or registered medical practitioner hired by municipal corporation.

In a huge relief for migrants, it specified that re was need to obtain individual medical certificates. Currently, re are 16,758 confirmed vel coronavirus cases in Maharashtra out of which 3094 patients have recovered while 651 casualties have been reported. With 10,714 cases and 412 deaths, Mumbai remains a major COVID-19 hotspot in Maharashtra.

All-party meeting in Maharashtra

Earlier in day, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray held an all-party meeting via video conference to discuss COVID-19 situation in state. Thackeray's Cabinet colleagues Ajit Pawar, Ashok Chavan, Balasaheb Thorat, Leer of Opposition Devendra Fnavis, BJP leer Pravin Darekar, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, Vanchit Bahujan Aghi chief Prakash Ambedkar and leers of or political parties participated in discussion. Speaking to media after meeting, Fnavis revealed that various issues including controversial Sion Hospital video, doctors testing positive for COVID-19, and lack of bed manment h been raised.

Claiming that re was inconsistency in vel coronavirus figures of ICMR and BMC, he urged state government to report cases accurately. Furrmore, he stressed need for migrants to be stopped from undertaking journey to ir native places on foot. BJP leer also urged Maharashtra government to contemplate grual restarting of ecomy and providing a fiscal stimulus.
