Military coup in Myanmar: India avers ‘rule of law and democratic process must be upheld'
Expressing deep concern on the developments in Myanmar after its military staged a coup, India said it believes that rule of law must be upheld in the country

Expressing deep concern on developments in Myanmar after military coup in neighbouring country, India on Monday said it believes that rule of law and democratic process must be upheld. Myanmar military has declared a state of emergency in country for one year, following coup, where Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint, and or senior officials have been detained by military.
Issuing a statement on same, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it is monitoring situation closely.

"We have ted developments in Myanmar with deep concern. India has always been stefast in its support to process of democratic transition in Myanmar. We believe that rule of law and democratic process must be upheld. We are monitoring situation closely," ministry statement re.

Military sts coup in Myanmar
Presently in Myanmar, state power has been handed over to Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Min Aung Hlaing, while country's first Vice-President Myint Swe is serving as acting president of country. Telecommunications in capital city of Naypyitaw and some or regions and states are also being snapped.

newly-elected lawmakers were to gar Monday in capital Naypyitaw for first session of Parliament, but Myanmar military called for a postponement.
As per reports, Myanmar's military h raised prospect of a coup d'etat in January, after an alleged widespre voter fraud took place during vember 8 election - nation's second general election since end of military rule in 2011.
