Min Nitin Gadkari launches first-ever khadi footwears, says it will boost the industry

Union Minister for MSME Nitin Gadkari on Oct 21 launched India's first-ever high-quality Khadi Fabric Footwear made by the KVIC via video conferencing.

Union Minister for MSME Nitin Gkari on Wednesday launched India's first-ever high-quality khi fabric footwears me by Khi and Vill Industries Commission (KVIC) via video conferencing. Union Minister's tweet in Hindi can be roughly translated to: "For first time in country, footwears me from khi fabric have been launched online. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase khi us. I appreciated this effort by KVIC."

Gkari informed that for beginning, 15 designs for female footwear and 10 designs for male footwear have been launched. se footwears bear famous paintings like Mhubani painting, he ded. According to Minister, this unique initiative has been taken to promote different s of art forms in India and khi fabric. Gkari during video conferencing also launched online sale of se khi footwears via KVIC's e-portal www.khiindia.gov.in.

Khi industry sees massive growth amid Covid 

Sweshi Movement in India has been given a new boost as nation's Khi Industry records a massive 170 per cent growth amid COVID lockdown. According to KVIC, industry has registered a turver of close to Rs 90,000 crore in FY20, up by 16 per cent from FY19.

KVIC recently released a report revealing that amid COVID-19 pandemic, Khi industry h emerged as a trailblazer as people looked towards opting Khi face masks as alternatives to regular surgical or COVID masks. Turning pandemic into an opportunity, Khi industry, employing over 6 lakh workers decided to focus on  production of khi face masks on war-footing.
