Ministry of Home Affairs appoints two advisors to assist J&K L-G

Two advisors have been appointed on Wednesday, by the Ministry of Home Affairs, to assist the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of J&K, GC Murmu

Two advisors have been appointed on Wednesday, by the Ministry of Home Affairs, to assist the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, GC Murmu. Retired IAS, KK Sharma and retired IPS, Farookh Khan have been selected as the two advisors to L-G Murmu.

'The L-G of the UT of J&K requested to issue necessary orders'

According to the order, the appointment will be effective from the date they assume charge. "The undersigned is directed to convey approval of the Competent Authority for appointment of the following Advisors to assist the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for effective discharge of his functions during the period of SO 3937 notified on 31 October 2019 or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the order said naming K.K.Sharma, IAS (Retd) and Farooq Khan, IPS (Retd). "The Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir requested to issue necessary orders with regards to their terms and conditions under intimation to this Ministry," the order added.

L-G Murmu announces that elections will be held soon in the state

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir GC Murmu announced that elections will be held soon in the state. The newly appointed Governor of the state said that now that the state is under the Centre's rule and is a legislature, the elections should be held as soon as possible. "Election will be happening soon in Jammu and Kashmir. This state is now under the central government and also it is a legislature. And thus elections should take place as soon as possible and your help is needed," The Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu and Kashmir said. 

The state has been under the Governor's rule since June 2018, since the coalition government of the BJP and Mehbooba Mufti led-PDP felt apart, till its bifurcation into the union territories of J&K and Ladakh on October 31.
