Minor Boy Electrocuted Outside Delhi’s Kalkaji Temple, 6 Injured In Stampede

A minor boy was electrocuted outside Delhi's Kalkaji Temple after coming in contact with an open electric wire on the first day of the holy Navratri week.

New Delhi: A minor boy was electrocuted outside Delhi's Kalkaji Temple after coming in contact with an open electric wire on first day of holy Navratri week. Apart from one death, six or devotees, who h arrived outside Kalkaji Temple for darshan, were also injured after a stampede broke out following electrocution incident. On information, Kalkaji police station team rushed to spot and shifted victims to a nearby hospital for treatment, where one of injured was declared de.

deceased has been identified as a 17-year-old  Mayank, a resident of Uttar Presh’s Ghaziab. As per police, deceased was studying in class 9th at a school in Noida. deceased has one bror and two sisters. His far works as a plumber.

Six People Injured Outside Kalkaji Temple In Stampede

It is being said that incident occurred when Mayank arrived outside Kalkaji temple with his family for darshan when he came in contact with an open electric wire leing to his death due to electrocution.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Souast Delhi) said that incident occurred on intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday at around 12.40 am. “Information was received that some devotees came in contact with electric wire at merging point of Rampyau and Lotus temple and became injured,” DCP said.

“Police staff immediately rushed to spot, where some of injured were shifted to hospital with help of police vehicles. electric supply got disconnected and people were removed from spot. BSES staff and Crime team with forensic staff were also called. On enquiry, It was found that electric wire used for installation of halogen lights during Navratri arrangements was broken and came in contact with iron railing,” Delhi police official said. 

A total of seven persons sustained injuries, one due to electrocution and ors due to stampede, DCP stated, ding that four injured were mitted to AIIMS Trauma Hospital and three to Safdarjung Hospital.

Later on, information was received from Safdarjung Hospital regarding mission of a boy who was declared de with a history of electrocution. deceased was identified as Mayank, a resident of Balaji Enclave colony in Ghaziab.

All or injured persons are under treatment at hospital. Meanwhile, after repair, electric supply of area was restored and darshan resumed.

A case under relevant sections was registered at Kalkaji police station and an investigation was taken up. Furr details regarding incident are being awaited.
