5 missing Arunachal Pradesh youths found by China's PLA, handover modalities in process

In a positive development, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that the five missing youths from Arunachal Pradesh have been found by the Chinese side.

In a positive development amid LAC faceoff, Chinese Army confirmed that 5 missing youths from Arunachal Pradesh have been found. This was revealed by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday. Mentioning that People's Liberation Army had responded to hotline mess sent by Indian Army, he added that furr modalities to hand over persons to Indian authorities are being worked out.

Case of missing youths

disappearance of five people from Arunachal Pradesh came to fore when Pasighat West MLA Ning Ering raised issue. Claiming that youths from Upper Subansiri district had been abducted by PLA, he called for a befitting reply to China. Reportedly, family members of missing persons in Nacho approached Indian Army on September 5.

y stated that youths had gone for an outing towards Tungdhara and have t come back. Expressing apprehension that y might have unintentionally crossed Line of Actual Control, kin requested Army and district administration for help. As per reports, two of ir friends who mand to return home also indicated that youths had been abducted.

LAC faceoff

20 Indian Army soldiers including a Commanding Officer were martyred when a violent faceoff took place on June 15 when de-escalation process was underway in  Galwan Valley. In standoff period, multiple rounds of Corps Commander-level meetings and WMCC talks have been held between India and China. During July 5 conversation between Special Representatives National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, it was agreed that early and total disengment along with de-escalation from border areas should take place as per bilateral agreements.

In his meeting with Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghe in Moscow on September 4, ted that action of PLA troops was in violation of bilateral agreements. While emphasising that Indian Army had taken a very responsible approach towards border manment, he reiterated that troops will leave stone unturned to protect India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Moreover, he said that Line of Actual Control must be strictly respected.
