Mob Attacks Manipur CM N Biren Singh’s Residence As Violence Escalates In State

Imphal: In fresh violence in Manipur on Saturday, a mob attacked Chief Minister N Biren Singh's residence. Earlier, protestors, protesting over death of six people, attacked residences of three state ministers and six MLAs. violent protests have erupted in Manipur, after discovery of bodies of abducted people in Barak River, leing to an outrage in area. 

Protesters, on Saturday, stormed homes of several government officials, including Chief Minister's son-in-law, and set ir properties on fire. Security forces responded with tear gas to disperse crowds. 

Meanwhile, government has imposed curfews and suspended internet services in as many as seven districts of Manipur to avoid spre of any misinformation among people. After fresh violent incidents in parts of Manipur, situation remains grim, with ethnic tensions between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities worsening situation.

government has declared a holiday for schools and colleges and has reintroduced Armed Forces and Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in several police station areas. violence has resulted in displacement of many people and has caused concern among locals. recent discovery of bodies and escalating violence have created a tense situation in region.

clashes between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities have been ongoing since May 2023 and have resulted in loss of over 200 lives.
