Modi's Diwali Bonanza: DA Hiked For Govt Employees, Farmers Get MSP Raise On Rabi Crops

The Modi government has increased Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 6 crops as part of pre-Diwali bonanza.

Modi Govt Diwali Bonanza: Modi government on Wednesday announced a big Diwali bonanza as it has hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and MSP on various Rabi crops for farmers.

Announcing government decisions, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Cabinet has approved additional instalment of three percent of dearness allowance to central government employees and dearness relief to pensioners. This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. This will benefit about 49.18 lakh central government employees and 64.89 lakh pensioners.

MSP hiked on 6 Rabi crops 

Apart from Dearness Allowance, the Cabinet has approved Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Rabi Crops for Marketing Season 2025-26. The MSP has been hiked for 6 Rabi Crops including:

  • Wheat Rs. 150 per quintal
  • Barley Rs. 130 per quintal
  • Gram Rs. 210 per quintal
  • Lentil (Masoor) Rs. 275 per quintal
  • Mustard Rs. 300 per quintal
  • Safflower Rs. 140 per quintal

The government increased the MSP of Rabi Crops for Marketing Season 2025-26, to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce.

The absolute highest increase in MSP has been announced for Rapeseed & Mustard at Rs 300 per quintal followed by Lentil (Masur) at Rs 275 per quintal.

For gram, wheat, safflower and barley, there is an increase of Rs 210 per quintal, Rs 150 per quintal, Rs 140 per quintal and Rs 130 per quintal respectively.

Modi Govt mega project to come up in Kashi

  • In addition to DA and MSP hike, the government has approved the construction of Varanasi-Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya multitracking  including a new Rail-cum-Road Bridge across the Ganga River. 
  • The project will provide connectivity, facilitate ease of travelling, minimise logistics cost, reduce oil imports and lower CO2 emissions.
  • The proposed project will improve logistical efficiency by connecting the unconnected areas, and enhancing transportation networks, resulting in streamlined supply chains and accelerated economic growth.
  • The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,642 crore (approx) and will be completed in four years.
  • The project will also generate direct employment for about 10 lakh human-days during construction.
