The Modi government has come down heavily on Indian porn websites which are selling rape and gang rape videos of Indian women and children.

The Modi government has come down heavily on Indian porn websites which are promoting rape and gang rape videos of Indian women and children. As many as five such websites have reportedly been shut down after the government noticed that they were promoting sexually explicit videos and pornography.
A highly placed source said that Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology Government of India approached the Special Cell of the Delhi Police with several complaints against websites promoting pornography and showing rape case of Indian women.

“Rakesh Maheshwari gave us complaint in written. They have done proper investigation before coming to us. The websites were harmful to the society. In order to prevent such thing we lodged FIRs and are looking into the matter,” said a senior police official on the condition of anonymity.

The source said that websites which are promoting child pornography and selling rape and gang rape videos of India women are on the radar. The action is being seen as a big step to curb sexual harassment cases.
The source said that the websites on which the action was taken being run from India. People who were running such websites were not identified as they used the fake identity to get the URL and licence to run the websites.

“We want the safety of women. These websites were promoting rape and gangrape. People were purchasing rape videos. The action is the must on such websites before they get prominence. These websites were also getting high traffic which was an alarming situation. We have informed police and have also written to Google and other companies who are providing and selling space to run websites,” said a source.

The police said that they have lodged FIR under sections 67/67A and 67B of the Information Technology Act. Though the police have lodged cases but no arrest was made. The probe in the matter is on.
