Later, name Mahabalipuram was derived from Mamallapuram. monuments of Mahabalipuram can be grouped as Molithics, Caves, Temples, and Sculptured scenes. This group of Monuments at Mamallapuram was declared as a World Herit Site by UNESCO in year 1984, in recognition of its outstanding universal value, contribution to humanity in field of art and architecture.
