New Delhi: The monsoon is expected to stay active across Rajasthan for the next week, said Indian Meteorological Department on Friday. Heavy rainfall has already impacted several districts in the state over the past 24 hours. As of 8:30 a.m, districts such as Karauli, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Kota, Banswara, Bhilwara, Bharatpur, and Nagaur have recorded intense rainfall. Among these, Kesarpura in Banswara saw the highest rainfall, reaching 157 mm, according to the weather office.

A low-pressure zone has been formed over the North Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh, and the West Bengal coast, contributing to the ongoing monsoon activity. The 'trough line,' which influences rainfall patterns, is currently in its normal state, said IMD.

The forecast indicates that rain will continue in many parts of eastern Rajasthan for the coming week. The weather office expects moderate to heavy rainfall in various regions, including the Kota and Udaipur districts. Some areas might experience very heavy rainfall, while other places could see heavy rain.

In addition to the eastern regions, moderate to heavy rain is anticipated in Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur divisions. From July 29 to 31, western Rajasthan, particularly the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, is likely to see increased rainfall. The expected rain will range from light to moderate, with occasional heavy showers in several areas.

This pattern of rainfall is consistent with the seasonal monsoon trends, which typically bring increased precipitation to Rajasthan during this period.
