Mother Dairy sells 5000 tonnes of onions at subsidised prices in Delhi

In a major boost for the customers, Mother Dairy has sold 5,000 tonnes of onions at a subsidised rate in lieu of the recent price hike in the case of onions

In a major boost for consumers, Mor Dairy has sold 5,000 tonnes of onions at a subsidised rate. Mor Dairy in lieu of recent price hike in case of onions me an effort to ensure that customers do t have to stand in long queues for inexpensive produce. price of onions has skyrocketed to Rs. 60-70 per kg. Mor Dairy has been distributing onions at subsidised rates of Rs. 23 per kg in Delhi-NRC.

As a consequence of states being affected by floods and hike in price of onions, Central Government has me an effort to provide relief to consumers. Mor Dairy and cooperatives Nafed and NCCF are selling this stock in Delhi at subsidised rates. Sangram Chaudhary, Managing Director of Mor Dairy said that rise in onion prices is temporary. He asserted that situation will improve once re will be an availability of fresh crop in vember. Furrmore, he stated that re is short of onions in country.

'We are concerned about long queues for onion in front of our Safal outlets. We will bring in more quantities in coming days.' Sangram Chaudhary said in a statement. 

Chaudhary furr ded that currently, company is functioning on a '-profit -loss' policy in case of onions. Mor Dairy h started by selling 20 tonnes of onions. At present, y are selling 150-200 tonnes per day. Mor Dairy’s fruit and vegetable arm Safal has 400 retail outlets in Delhi, ida, Ghaziab, Faridab and Gurgaon.

Tackling price hike  

In lieu of price hike, Centre has recently banned export of onions. ban is to stay in place unless re are any or orders from officials. price rise of onions has increased exponentially in last couple of weeks as a consequence of incessant rains and flooding. onion prices have reached an all-time high in last four years.
