Chennai, Sep 26 (PTI) From celebrities, fans to general public, mourners lined up at Tamaraipakkam near here on Saturday to pay hom to star singer S P Balasubrahmanyam, popularly kwn as SPB.
At break of dawn, men and women trooped to sprawling farm house of veteran singer to pay ir last respects despite restrictions in view of coronavirus pandemic and about 500 police personnel were deployed to regulate unceasing crowd, several of whom were from distant locations.

Tamaraipakkam is about 45 kilometers from here.
People turned up in rows after rows and paid ir respects as calm looking SPB's face inside a freezer cabinet triggered ir own memories in relation to innumerable songs he h sung.

Andhra Presh Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yav, Tiruvallur District Collector Mswari Ravikumar, Police Superintendent Aravindan, film director and SPB's friend Bharathiraja, music composer Devi Sri Pras, singer Ma, comedian Mayilsami were among celebrities who turned up to pay ir last respects.
Elaborate arrangements including placing barrices to regulate crowds, and earmarking separate entrance for VIPs and general public, were me by police and vehicles were allowed to park only in designated parking lots.

Funeral rites, with participation of singer's son S P Charan was being carried out by priestsand an open ground in a portion of farm house has been reied for laying singer to rest.
