Mumbai: Amid massive outpour of love and condolences for industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu has also offered his condolences and paid a heartfelt tribute to ‘proud son of India’. Ratan Tata, who was 86-years-old, passed away after a brief illness, in Mumbai on October 9.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has offered his condolences on Ratan Tata's death and has paid a heartfelt tribute to him; the world leader has shared his thoughts in a social media post addressed to PM Modi.

The post reads- To my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi

I and many in Israel mourn the loss of Ratan Naval Tata, a proud son of India and a champion of the friendship between our two countries. Please convey my condolences to Ratan's family.

Ratan Tata Death : Tributes Pour in from Around the World

While politicians, actors, businessmen and the people of India paid tribute to Ratan Naval Tata, the philanthropist also received a lot of love from around the world.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates remembered Ratan Tata, saying, “Ratan Tata was a visionary leader whose dedication to improving lives left an indelible mark on India—and the world. I had the privilege of meeting him on several occasions, and I was always moved by his strong sense of purpose and service to humanity. Together, we partnered on numerous initiatives to help people lead healthier, more prosperous lives. His loss will be felt around the world for years to come, but I know the legacy he left and example he set will continue to inspire generations.”

Google and Alphabet CEO Sunder Pichai recalled his last meeting with ratan Tata and wrote, “My last meeting with Ratan Tata at Google, we talked about the progress of Waymo and his vision was inspiring to hear. He leaves an extraordinary business and philanthropic legacy and was instrumental in mentoring and developing modern business leadership in India. He deeply cared about making India better. Deep condolences to his loved ones and Rest in Peace Shri Ratan Tata Ji."

Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, breathed his last at 86 in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital at 11.30 pm on Wednesday. A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Tata, had been in intensive care at the hospital since Monday. Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Tata was the chairman of Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of India's largest private philanthropic trusts. He served as chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 until his retirement in 2012 and then became chairman emeritus. In 2008, he received the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award.
