MP CM checks on night shelter residents, promises they won't face ‘any problem’ amid rising cold

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav recently conducted an inspection of shelter homes in Bhopal as a collective demonstration of responsibility to ensure the well-being of individuals residing in night shelters, according to media reports on Thursday, December 21. Expressing concern over the escalating cold weather, Yadav met with shelter residents, their families, and citizens to assess their conditions and reiterated the importance of safeguarding them from any adversities.

In a statement to ANI, Yadav said, “The cold is increasing. In such a situation, today I met the patients staying in night shelters, their families, and citizens, to know about their well-being. It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that the people staying in night shelters do not face any kind of problem; necessary instructions have been given for this.”

According to the Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) report released on December 20, dry weather conditions prevailed across all divisions of Madhya Pradesh in the preceding 24 hours. Dhar and Khandwa experienced a strong cold wave, while Khargaun, Malanjkhand, Shivni, and Datiya encountered cooler winds. Although minimum temperatures remained consistent in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, and Gwalior divisions, they dropped below normal in other districts.

The highest maximum temperature recorded in the state stood at 26.1°C, whereas Narmadapuram marked the lowest minimum temperature at a chilling 5.7°C. Gwalior also witnessed a cool morning with a minimum temperature of 6.8°C.
