MPDO accuses YSRCP MLA of harassment, threatening her family

K Sridhar Reddy, MLA of the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) from Nellore has recently been accused by a Government officer of threatening her family members. According to the officer Sarala, the MLA threatened her family members after she refused to grant him a favour. Sarala, a Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) from the town Venkatachalam, stated that Reddy visited her house on Friday night. She further added that he threatened her family members after she refused to provide for water connection to a layout that was being developed by his followers.

The accusations
Sarla accused the MLA of multiple things. The Government official stated that power, cable, and water connections of her house has been cut. This came after the officer declined to grant permission to the MLA to install a tap which would be connected to the land of one of his subordinates. Post the incident, the MPDO went ahead to file a complaint against Reddy at the Nellore rural police station. However, the cops refused to book an FIR. So, the MPDO sat on a midnight protest after which the cops booked an FIR. The MLA was arrested in the wee hours of October 6.

Telugu Desam Party slams the ruling YSRCP
TDP Chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu slammed the party over the issue. Naidu stated that there is an absence of law and order in the state. He further questioned the policing in the state. YSRCP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a statement asked the police to take appropriate action after he was briefed on the matter. The Director-General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang briefed the CM on the issue following which the CM stated that necessary actions against the MLA must be taken if there is adequate evidence.
